The aim of this event was to explore the connections between the pornographic industry and EU citizens’ experience of sexuality today, particularly among young people. The event had this general aim because the influence of pornography on young people’s experience of sexuality is an increasingly hot topic in public debate in feminist circles and schools in Portugal. Although Sex Education is mandatory in the country’s schools, it is not actually responding to the needs of young people and fails to address their real concerns, curiosities, and doubts. At the same time, discussion about BDSM, Kinkshaming, vanilla sex and feminist pornography that lacks critical thinking perspectives is more and more common in public and mainstream debate in the public space, in the media and in young people’s imaginary.
