Al via alle attività di My Body is My Own con il primo evento, che ha coinvolto attivisti e attiviste, giornalisti e giornaliste e influencer dell’attivismo digitale locali e nazionali per scambiare buone pratiche rispetto alla promozione del diritto all’aborto sicuro e gratuito in Italia. La conferenza è stata un’occasione stimolante di condivisione, durante la quale abbiamo scambiato diversi approcci dal basso volti a creare un’informazione corretta e sensibile sull’accesso all’aborto, nonché a rompere i tabù culturali e sociali legati a questo diritto. Tra le esperienze e metodologie scambiate, ci ha colpito in particolare un lavoro di reportage svolto da una giovane attivista locale, che racconta i processi necessari per accedere l’IVG sul territorio, le difficoltà e gli ostacoli affrontati dalle persone che vogliono rivendicare il proprio diritto. L’attivista è stata una fonte di particolare ispirazione per l3 partecipant3 all’evento, perché è riuscita a comunicare con una spiccata sensibilità la complessità della situazione attuale rispetto all’IVG in Italia, nonché le sfumature delle forze culturali, sociali e politiche che continuano a influenzare la salute sessuale e riproduttiva della donna.
La conferenza è stata un’iniziativa organizzata nell’ambito di My Body is My Own, progetto europeo sviluppato da Maghweb che prevede varie altre azioni informative e di partecipazione civica rispetto alla salute sessuale e riproduttiva femminile in Italia, Polonia e Portogallo.
My Body is My Own’s project activities have begun! For our first event we held a conference with local and national activists and journalists to exchange good practices that protect and promote the right to safe and free abortion in Italy. The conference was a stimulating occasion in which we shared the different bottom-up approaches used to create correct and sensitive information about abortion access on a local and national level. All these approaches aim to free the issue from tabu and prejudice. One of the most striking practices shared was a reportage project carried out by a young local activist who had documented the process required to access abortion in Palermo and the obstacles and difficulties facing the women claiming this right. The sensitive and nuanced way the activist recounted the complexity of the current situation regarding abortion in Italy and the social, cultural and political forces influencing women’s sexual and reproductive health was particularly inspiring for the participants.
The conference was organised in the framework of My Body is My Own and more informative, civic participation events about women’s sexual and reproductive health will be held as part of this European project in Poland and Portugal.
